Rahul Gandhi appears in Surat court in defamation case.

Congress pioneer Rahul Gandhi on Friday showed up under the watchful eye of an officer’s court in Surat city of Gujarat to record his assertion regarding a criminal slander body of evidence documented against him over his comment on the “Modi last name”.

This was the third time the Congress MP showed up under the steady gaze of the court regarding the 2019 case.

The court had on October 26 guided Gandhi to show up before it between 3 pm and 6 pm on October 29 to record his assertion.

The previous Congress president arrived at the Surat Airport in the early evening and made a beeline for the court, arranged in the Athwalines space of the city.

Boss Judicial Magistrate A N Dave had before requested that Gandhi show up on October 29 to record his assertion further, after the declarations of two new observers were taken since the Congress chief last showed up under the watchful eye of the court on June 24 this year.

Preceding it, the Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad in Kerala had showed up under the steady gaze of the court in October 2019 and argued not liable for his remark.

BJP lawmaker from Surat, Purnesh Modi, had recorded a protest against Gandhi in April 2019 under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 499 and 500 that arrangement with slander.

In his objection, the MLA had affirmed that Gandhi, while tending to a survey rally in 2019, criticized the whole Modi people group by purportedly saying “why every one of the cheats have Modi as the normal last name?” Purnesh Modi is presently a pastor in the Gujarat government drove by new Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, holding the arrangement of street and building, transport, common flying, and the travel industry and journey advancement.

Since Gandhi’s last appearance under the watchful eye of the court, declarations were taken of two additional observers—the then appointive official of Kolar in Karnataka, where the Congress chief offered the questionable comment, and a videographer utilized by the Election Commission to record his discourse.
