Tarandeep Singh, along with eight other soldiers, died in a car accident in Ladakh last week. Today, he was cremated with respect in his hometown of Kamali village.
Last week, a car carrying soldiers slipped off the road and fell into a deep valley in Ladakh. The accident happened close to Kiari, in the southern part of Ladakh’s Nyoma, on August 19th.
At the funeral, there was a gun salute and people threw flower petals on the body. Wreaths were laid by Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill, SSP Dr Ravjot Grewal, Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh, Khamano SDM Dr Sanjiv Kumar and other important people.
Tarandeep’s dad, Kewal Singh, set fire to the funeral in front of many people. His mother, Palwinder Kaur, and sister, Navdeep Kaur, were very sad.
Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill paid tribute and said that she understands how the family feels because she also experienced the same pain when her father, Brigadier Balwinder Singh Shergill, died in Jammu and Kashmir on August 21, 2000. He was the only Brigadier officer who died while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir. She promised that the district administration will provide complete support to the family.
