Screening for depression under govt primary healthcare may save up to Rs 482 billion: Study

Integrating depression screening in India’s primary healthcare could save Rs 291-482 billion, equivalent to 0.19-0.32% of GDP. Screening those aged 20+ is cost-effective, especially with public healthcare utilization. This strategy could also reduce depression-related suicides.
