Inspired by Tarla Dalal, Huma Qureshi’s father introduces Batata Musallam at his restaurant

Huma Qureshi’s family has been part of the food industry since 1977, when her father opened his first restaurant, Saleem’s. Now, there are multiple branches of Saleem’s across Delhi. Recently, in honor of Huma’s new film in which she plays the role of Tarla Dalal, a popular chef, Saleem’s has introduced a new dish, Batata Musallam. Huma commented on the significance of the moment, saying, “It’s amazing to see these two worlds come together after 50 years. My dad was inspired by Tarla ji’s trailer and decided to add her dish to Saleem’s. Food has the power to bring communities together, which is one of the most beautiful aspects of India.” Tarla is a movie about Tarla Dalal, the first woman to have her own cookbook, show, and to receive the Padma Shri. It will premiere on ZEE5 on July 7, with Huma Qureshi playing the lead role.
